Abstract C27H68Si8,1, monoclinic, P21/n;a=9.849(1)Å,b=22.599(3)Å,c=18.596(3)Å, β=94.78(1)Å;Z=4,D c=0.99 g cm−3,R=035,R w=0.044, GOF=1.73. Compound1 is obtained in one step by the reductive silylation of PhSiCl3 in the presence of a large excess of Li metal and Me3SiCl. The structure of1 has been studied by X-ray crystallography and solution phase NMR techniques.
