Notes:
Abstract Chlorpromazine was found to inhibit enzymic NADPH-dependent peroxidation of lipids in rat liver microsomes. The inhibitory effect was shown to be due to: 1) the antioxidant action of hydroxy derivatives of chlorpromazine produced in the course of its metabolism by NADPH-dependent microsomal oxygenases; 2) competition for reduced components of electron-transport chains between two NADPH-dependent processes-chlorpromazine metabolism and peroxidation of lipids.
