Abstract In the present paper a Lidar (light detection and ranging) system is described. It allows high-speed data acquisition of Lidar signals and meteorological parameters by means of standard instrumentation. The Lidar, controlled by a computer, utilized two laser sources (Nd: Yag and ruby), a modified Ricthey-Chretien telescope and signal detection, storage and real-time monitoring equipment. The whole system was installed in a container for field experiments.
