Child consumerism causes various problems in childhood (anxiety, family stress, created needs and repressed desires, obesity, early sexualization, etc.). Considering that the formation of social knowledge begins in childhood, the kindergarten plays a fundamental role in promoting reflection on consumerism that negatively affects children. Knowing the views of teachers, the school environment and children's beliefs about child consumerism can provide important elements for reflection by parents, teachers, researchers and those interested in this topic.

A sociedade de consumo destrói a saúde planetária, pois além de degradar cada vez mais o meio ambiente como se houvesse uma fonte inesgotável de recursos naturais, contribui negativamente para a formação de cidadãos inconscientes de suas necessidades reais e já afeta a formação da identidade de crianças desde a primeira infância, pois elas são provocadas ao ter objetos e a consumir artefatos culturais sem nenhuma criticidade, em sobreposição ao ser. O consumismo infantil acarreta vários problemas na infância (ansiedade, stress familiar, necessidades criadas e desejos reprimidos, obesidade, erotização precoce, etc). Considerando que a formação de conhecimentos sociais tem seu início na infância, a escola de educação infantil tem papel fundamental para a promoção da reflexão acerca do consumismo que afeta negativamente as crianças. Conhecer a visão dos professores, do ambiente escolar e as crenças das crianças sobre o consumismo infantil, pode trazer importantes elementos para a reflexão de pais, professores, pesquisadores e interessados nessa temática.
