Sublimation Pressure of NbOCl3,s and Standard Entropy of NbOCl3,gThe sublimation pressure of NbOCl3 has been measured by means of the transportation method. The carrier-gas contained NbCl5, so that the decomposition of NbOCl3 is prevented: \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$$ \Delta {\rm H}^ \circ ({\rm NbOCl}_{{\rm 3,subl}},\,298)\, = \,29.13\,{\rm kcal;}\,\Delta {\rm S}^ \circ ({\rm NbOCl}_{{\rm 3,subl}},\,298)\, = \,48.87\,{\rm eu} $$\end{document}.Further at 1277 K the reaction Nb2O5 + 3 Cl2 = 2 NbOCl3,g + 1.5 O2 has been measured by means of the transportation method. Considering ΔCp and ΔH°(298) follows \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$$ {\rm S}^ \circ ({\rm NbOCl}_{{\rm 3,g}},\,298)\, = \,85.3\,{\rm eu}\,{\rm und}\,{\rm S}^ \circ ({\rm NbOCl}_{{\rm 3,s}},\,298)\, = \,85.3 - 48.87\, = \,36.4\,{\rm eu} $$\end{document}.
Notes:
