Description:
Description:
Given that commercial catches, recruitment and abundance of juvenile pink shrimp Farfantepenaeus notialis have decreased in the Gulf of Guacanayabo in the last 20 years, it is to know in this job if there was also involvement in individual fecundity of the species in that Gulf. The samplings were conducted in the reproductive stage of the species in the months of January, February and May 2013 in the areas of fishing Industrial Fishing Company of Granma (EPIGRAN). A sample of five mature females by class took long, with sizes between 4,2 cm and 14,7 cm long Cuban, for a total of 120 females tested. The gravimetric method for counting eggs and Spearman correlation coefficient (R) for the degree of significance between the number of eggs and height were used. The value of fertility ranged from 254,600 to 1,500,000 eggs, with an average of 727,400 eggs, resulting in a value suitable for the species. Exponential relationship between the number and size of eggs found: y = 45121 x e0.2403x where a coefficient of positive and significant correlation (R = 0,7) was obtained. The results indicate that the species has adequate fertility, so it is infered that there are events in the environment that influence negatively on the life cycle stages after spawning.
