Conclusions In the preparation of aluminosilicate plastic batches it was established that chamotte-clay batches are satisfactorily plasticized by a clay-phosphate slip containing 5–10% added sulfo acids or their salts. The efficiency of plasticizers was investigated for batches containing an aluminosilicate filler and clay. All materials investigated other than Latnen clay can be used for the preparation of plastic batches. Kyanite-sillimanite concentrate and fine-ground corundum are equivalent as antishrinkage additives. Plastic chamotte batches are being used at the Kuznetsk Metallurgical Combine and can be recommended to metallurgical plants for the production of monolithic linings for the cover and other elements of reheating furnaces, and also for the production of molded items. The service temperature of the concrete batches varies from 1350 to 1500°C with the Al2O3 content of the filler.
