Cyclische, „trans-fixierte“ α-Isothiuronium -β-dicarbonyl-halogenide bilden in saurer wäßriger oder alkoholischer Lösung 2-Amino-thiazole. Aus 2-Isothiuronium-tetronsäure-bromid entsteht - wahrscheinlich über ein intermediär gebildetes, kondensiertes Tetron-Thiazolringsystem - in wäßriger Lösung 2-Amino-4-hydroxymethyl-5-carboxy-thiazol, das erst beim Erhitzen decarboxyliert wird. Mit Alkoholen als Lösungsmitteln erhitzt, bilden sich Ester. Die Cyclisierung von 2-Isothioureido-dimedon-dihydrochlorid führt zum 2-Amino- 55-dimetyhl -7-oxo- 4 5 67-tetrahydro-benzthiazol.
