Conclusions 1. The Chirkey hydrostation with an installed capacity of 1 million kW, 232.5-m-high arch dam, and powerhouse with an original two-row arrangement of the units is a highly efficient, unique hydropower facility, which was achieved by the development and introduction of new engineering measures. 2. The developed and introduced layout-design and industrial-technological measures made it possible to considerably reduce the amount of construction and installation works, to reduce the consumption of materials and cost of the structures, and to increase their reliability and operating qualities. The total saving from introducing just the main measures exceeded 20 million rubles. 3. Among the most effective measures it is necessary to point out primarily the two-row layout of the units, which does not have analogs either in Soviet or foreign practice, the construction of a plug in the foundation of the arch dam with extension of the penstocks to the downstream face of the dam, the inclined intakes, and the new type of adjustable anchor support.
