Higher homologues of n-hexyl silane, RSiH3, and those of diethyl silane, R2SiH2, react with urea (but not thiourea) forming crystalline clathrate compounds. Preliminary X-ray investigations have shown that the included n-alkyl silanes, RSiH3, are arranged within the channels of the hexagonal urea lattice as double molecules by means of head-head and tail-tail intermolecular bonding, as is the case with carbonic acids in their corresponding urea clathrates. Di-n-alkyl silanes, R2SiH2, however, are like paraffines included as single molecules. These silane clathrates of both types have definite dissoziation temperatures.

Die höheren Homologen des n-Hexyl-(RSiH3) bzw. Diäthylsilans (R2SiH2) geben mit Harnstoff (nicht aber mit Thioharnstoff) kristalline Einschlußverbindungen, deren Zusammensetzung analytisch und röntgenographisch ermittelt wurde. Vorläufige Auswertungen der Reflexe des eindimensionalen Gitteranteiles zeigten, daß die eingelagerten Mono-n-alkylsilane (RSiH3) ähnlich wie die Carbonsäuren als Doppelmolekeln mit Kopf-Kopf-, Schwanz-Schwanz-Verknüpfungen in den Kanälen des hexagonalen Harnstoffgitters angeordnet sind. Bei den eingelagerten Di-n-alkylsilanen (R2SiH2) dagegen liegt wie bei den Paraffinen eine Aufeinanderfolge von Einzelmolekeln vor. Beide Arten von Einschlußverbindungen zeigen wie die Paraffin-Harnstoffe definierte Dissoziationstemperaturen.
