    Notes: Abstract Based on microanalytic and micromorphologic examinations of the dyes of anodic oxide layers coloured by two metals the following observations could be made. The metal particles from the different metal salt electrolytes incorporate into the channels of the oxide layer in the form of crystallized metallic rods. If the colouring electrolyte contains two kinds of metals, the metallic rods will also contain both metallic components. If colouring of the two metals is done successively, a layered structure located perpendicularly to the layer plane inside the anodic oxide will be formed. The majority of the porechannels available were filled by the metal used initially, followed by the second metal, which continued to fill the already replenished channels. Employing a morphological investigation combined with microanalysis, i.e. a combination of the modern electron beam methods, any coloured structure made by any structural technology could be identified.

    Description / Table of Contents: Investigations on structure and other properties of hard oxide layers produced upon aluminium by anodic oxidationAfter a short survey of the formation mechanism of oxide layers growing upon aluminium during anodic oxidation the report presents experimental results obtained in investigating the growth of hard oxide layers in dilute sulfuric acid. Particular reference is made to the initial period of anodization and to changes in surface roughness measured during surface refining. Additional data cover results of thickness measurements on barrier layers and total layers, as well as oxide structure and chemical composition of the oxide layers. According to these findings the formation mechanisms, the structure and the chemical composition of layers produced by hard-anodizing exhibit the same regularities and basic structure as normal eloxal-layers.
    Notes: In diesem Bericht werden nach einem kurzen Überblick über die Entstehung der durch anodische Oxydation auf der Aluminiumoberfläche sich bildenden Oxydschichten die Untersuchungsergebnisse geschildert, die bei dem Wachstum der in verdünnter Schwefelsäure hergestellten Hartoxydschichten erzielt wurden. Näher beschrieben und gekennzeichnet werden die Anfangsperiode der Anodisierung und die bei der Oberflächenveredelung gemessene Veränderung der Oberflächenunebenheiten. Weiter werden die Ergebnisse von Sperr- und Gesamtschichtdickemessungen sowie die Resultate der Untersuchungen der Oxydstruktur und der chemischen Zusammensetzung der Oxydschichten mitgeteilt. Hiernach zeigen der Bildungsmechanismus, die Struktur und chemische Zusammensetzung der durch Hartoxydation erzeugten Schichten dieselben Regelmäßigkeiten und denselben prinzipiellen Aufbau wie die normalen Eloxalschichten.

    Description / Table of Contents: A suitable method of investigating repeated mechanical loading under corrosive conditionsFor assessing the different parameters of repeated mechanical loading under corrosive conditions, Wöhler curves are unsuitable because of the large scatter. Such investigations must be carried out on numerous specimens and at stresses corresponding to the practical applications of the material. The results must then be statistically evaluated, the Weibull destribution being most suitable for the purpose. As a statistical evaluation based on the number of stress cycles endured before fatique failure does not yield a clear picture, it is worthwhile repeating the evaluation based on the period of time required to secure failure because, in this way, the influence of the test frequency becomes clearly apparent. Where the results of a fatigue test carried out in a corrosive medium are to be quited in literature, it is also necessary for clarity's sake, to state the test frequency.
    Notes: Zur Erfassung der einzelnen Einflußgrößen der wiederholten mechanischen Beanspruchung unter korrosiven Bedingungen sind die Wöhler-Kurven  -  wegen der großen Streuung  -  ungeeignet. Derartige Untersuchungen müssen an zahlreichen Probestäben und bei solchen Spannungen, die für den Einbau des Werkstoffes maßgebend sind, durchgeführt werden. Die Meßwerte müssen dann statistisch ausgewertet werden, wofür die Weibull-Verteilung am besten geeignet ist. Indem eine statistische Auswertung laut der zum Dauerbruch gehörenden Lastspielzahlen kein klares Bild ergibt, lohnt es sich die Auswertung laut der bis zum Bruch notwendigen Zeitdauer zu wiederholen, weil dadurch der wichtigste Faktor, nämlich der Einfluß der Versuchsfrequenz deutlich zum Ausdruck kommt. Wenn Ergebnisse einer im korrosiven Medium durchgeführten Dauerfestigkeitsprüfung in der Literatur angegeben werden sollen, so muß eindeutigkeitshalber auch die Versuchsfrequenz beigefügt sein.
