Notes: [Auszug] An increasing number of microbial genomes have been completely sequenced, and functional analyses of these genomic sequences are under way. To facilitate these analyses, we have developed a genome-engineering tool for determining essential genes and minimizing bacterial genomes. We made two large ...

Notes: The open cell Al (or Al foam) was employed in the alloy hydride system due to the rapidheat conductivity of Al. The hydrogen storage alloy powders were packed in this storage systemmade of Al open cell, and the changes of temperature and equilibrium pressure of hydrogendesorbed were measured. By applying the open cell Al in this hydrogen storage system, the reactionsensitivity of the temperature and equilibrium pressure was far rapidly increased than that withoutthe open cell Al

Notes: Manufacturing technology of bulk titanium by milling and sintering was studied forrecycling of pure titanium tuning chip. Ti chips were milled at RT under H2 pressure of 0.5MPa. Alltitanium chips were pulverized and hydrided within several minutes, which is very short timecomparing to other thermal processes. The hydrided powders were hot pressed at 750°C. After hotpressing, bulk sample was identified to α-phase Ti by XRD measurement and measureddensity(4.509g/cm3) was very close to theoretical density(4.512g/cm3) of pure Ti. Consequently, it iscarefully suggested that hydriding and sintering process is efficient and practicable solution forrecycling of pure titanium tuning chip

Notes: In the electroplating and water treatment fields, as the demand and expectation on anelectrode with high productivity and high efficiency are getting increased, various electrodes(DSE)with higher reactivity and durability are being developed. This study is intended to analyze thecharacteristics of the produced electrodes and to establish the optimum manufacturing conditions forelectrode being used that we mentioned. For improving the durability, the changes of reactivity andcorrosion resistance are observed as adding Tantalum and/or another components (hereafter stated as“α”) and surface treatment of substrate(Ti). As a result, increasing the amount of Iridium, thereactivity of electrode increased, and increasing amount of Tantalum, the durability of electrodeincreased. And thus, it is found out that Iridium and Tantalum have the opposite role each on theelectrode’s reactivity and durability. And adding α and surface treatment substrate, an electrode withexcellent reactivity and durability and low oxygen evolution can be manufactured. In the watertreatment field like sterilizing in a swimming pool and power-plant cooling water, the high efficiencyof sodium-hypochlorite generation is surely guaranteed

Notes: Using commercial Ti powders and recycled TiH2 powders made from titanium turningchips, the effects of hydrogen on microstructures and oxygen reduction were investigated. Eachpowder was hot-pressed at 750oC and 1100oC, which are below and above β-transition temperature(880oC), respectively. The TiH2 and Ti samples of sintered at 1100oC showed equiaxed α phase. However, TiH2 sample sintered at 750oC consist of primary α phase, secondary α phase and titaniumhydride (TiH2), though Ti sample represented single α phase. The formation of complexmicrostructure in TiH2 sample sintered at 750oC is due to hydrogen remained after sintering. Theoxygen contents after sintering in TiH2 samples were relatively lower than Ti samples, although thosebefore sintering were higher than Ti. This result can be explained that hydrogen gas generated fromdehydrogenation of TiH2 leads to the reduction of oxygen contents and protection of re-oxidationduring sintering

Notes: Some nano grained Al materials were produced by mechanical milling/alloying followedby vacuum hot pressing: nano grained pure Al, Al-1.5Mg and Al-0.7Mg-1.0Cu alloys in wt%. Thenano bulk materials had average grain sizes of 90-150 nm and ball-on-disk wear equipment was usedto investigate the effects of grain size comparing to coarse grained pure Al and T6-treated Al 6061alloy. In comparison of coarse and nano grained pure Al materials, nano grained specimens showedmuch higher wear resistance and size of wear debris was very fine as much as 100 nm at applied loadof 100g. Wear in nano grained materials proceeded by micro fracturing mechanism like abrasion inlow applied and sliding velocity and the mechanism resulted in high wear resistance. Nano grainedAl-1.5Mg and Al-0.7Mg-1.0Cu alloys showed much superior wear characteristics due to nano grainsand high hardness. As a result, size of grains was a predominant factor for high resistance at lowapplied load and/or sliding velocity, while hardness at higher applied load or velocity

Notes: In present work, manufacturing technologies of titanium hydride powder were studied forrecycling of titanium tuning chip and for this, attrition ball milling was carried out under H2pressure of 0.5 MPa. Ti chips were completely transformed into TiH2 within several hundredseconds that is very short time comparing to that in the previous report. Dehydrogenation processTiH2 powders is consist of two reactions: one is reaction of TiH2 to TiHx and the otherdecomposition of TiHx to Ti and H2. The former reaction shows relatively low activation energyranged from about 100 KJ/mol to 250 KJ/mol and it is suggested that the reaction is caused byintroduction of defects due to milling. In case of TiH2 powders that hardly contains defects, decomposition of TiH2 to Ti and H2 occurs directly without the reaction of TiH2 to TiHx andactivation energy is very large as much as 929 KJ/mol

Notes: The effects of use of open cell Al foam and thermoelectric element in a hydrogen storagesystem were investigated. Extremely different heat conductivities were observed in two storagesystems with or without open cell Al foam. By applying the open cell Al in this hydrogen storagesystem, the reaction sensitivity of the temperature and equilibrium pressure was far rapidlyincreased than that without the open cell Al foam. During increasing the temperature by heatingelement, heating rate of hydride powders was very fast in the storage system including Al foam, while temperature of powders was almost not changed in system without foam. Also, in case ofusing thermoelectric element, heating and cooling rate was very sensitive in the system with Alfoam and heating-cooling cyclic behavior within the system controlled by thermoelectric element isseemed to be satisfied for some applications in industry

Notes: In present work, manufacturing technologies of micro parts by micro forging andpressing were studied using strain softening phenomenon in nano grained Al-1.5mass%Mg alloy.During compressive test at 300[removed info], the Al alloy showed stain softening phenomenon by grainboundary sliding regardless of strain rate. Micro spur gear with ten teeth (height of 200 μm andpitch of 250 μm) was fabricated with sound shape by micro forging. During micro forging, increaseof applied stress induced by friction between material and die surface was effectively compensatedby decrease of stress by strain softening behavior and as a result, flow stress increased only about50 MPa more than that in compressive test. However, in micro pressing, flow of material did notoccurred sufficiently to fill die and the resultant shape of gear was very poor

Notes: Al-Mg and Al-Mg-Cu alloys are known well to reveal superplasticity in tension at hightemperatures. In this study, deformation behaviors of those alloys nanograined were investigated under compression test at room temperature. During plastic deformation softening phenomena occurred obviously in nanograined Al-1.5wt%Mg and Al-0.7wt%Mg-1.0wt%Cu alloys while slight strain hardening appeared in nanograined pure Al. These results suggest that the softening stronglydepends on composition of alloys. The softening takes place over strain rate range from 10-4 up to 10-1
