Description / Table of Contents:
Tertiary phosphine oxides react with alkaliphosphides in 1:1 ratio yielding addition compounds {R3PO · MPR′2} which are hydrolytically cleaved into MOH, R3PO and R′2PH. In the case of the Li addition compound, the reaction with HI results in the formation cf R′2PH and adducts of R3PO with LiI. The latter may also be prepared from LiI and R3PO. In dioxane,{R3PO · MPR′2} gives coloured solutions changing from dark red to yellow, depending from R and R′, respectively.
Notes:
Tert.
