Zusammenfassung Die Oxydation von 2,3-Dimethylphenol (I), 4-Oxyhydrinden (II), 5-Oxyhydrinden (III) und ar. Tetrahydro-α-naphthol (IV) mit Bleitetraacetat ergibt die entsprechenden Chinolacetate Ia, IIa, IIIa und IVa. Aus I, III und IV entstehen außerdem die o-Chinoldiacetate Ib, IIIb und IVc in sehr kleiner Menge. Die beiden isomeren Methoxynaphthaline sind zum Unterschied vom Anisol mittels Bleitetraacetat schon bei Zimmertemp. oxydierbar. Aus dem 1-Methoxy-naphthalin entsteht das 4,4′-Dimethoxy-dinaphthyl-(1,1′) (Va) neben 1-Methoxy-4-acetoxy-naphthalin (Vb). Die Oxydation des 2-Methoxynaphthalin führt über das 1-Acetoxy-2-methoxy-naphthalin (VIa) zum 2-Methoxy-naphthochinon-(1,4) (VIb) und Dinaphthyl-(1,1′)-dichinon-(3,4;3′,4′) (VIc).
