    Description / Table of Contents: In investigating the strength of polyamide fibres a discrete strength spectrum was observed. The levels were found to correspond to seven discrete values of breaking strength, which were also calculated by mathematical expression of rupture mechanics. They were assigned to submicrocrazes, microcrazes and macrocrazes. With oriented polyamide a correlation between the discrete craze length spectrum determined by small angle x-ray scattering and the discrete strength levels calculated from strength properties was established. The discrete strength and craze length spectra of polymer fibres depend on the discrete structure in longitudinal direction (crystalline and amorphous regions of microfibrils) and cross-sectional direction (microfibrils and fibrils) of the uniaxially oriented polymer as well as on other pecularities of the fibre structure.
    Notes: Statistische Untersuchungen zur Festigkeit von Polyamidfasern zeigten die Existenz eines diskreten Festigkeitsspektrums. Diesen Festigkeitsniveaus entsprechen sieben diskrete Rißlängenwerte, die nach Formeln der Reißmechanik berechnet wurden. Sie lassen sich drei Gruppen zuordnen: den Submikrorissen, Mikrorissen und Makrorissen. Im orientierten Polyamid wurde eine Korrelation zwischen dem mittels Röntgenkleinwinkelstreuung erhaltenen, diskreten Rißlängenspektrum und den aus den Festigkeitseigenschaften berechneten diskreten Festigkeitsniveaus festgestellt. Die diskreten Festigkeits- und Rißlängenspektren in der Polymerfaser hängen mit der diskreten Struktur in Längsrichtung (kristalline und amorphe Bereiche der Mikrofibrille) und Querrichtung (Mikrofibrillen und Fibrillen) des einachsig orientierten Polymers sowie mit anderen Besonderheiten der Faserstruktur zusammen.
