The preparation of the new compound Fe4IIIAs2VO11 („Fe2O3 · 2 FeAsO4“) is described.The reduction of FeAsO4 by means of H2 yields, in principle, FeAs; because, however, FeAsO3 being probably an intermediate is thermally instable, As2O3, As and traces of AsH3 are formed during the course of the reduction. Thus no pure FeAs results, but variable mixtures of FeAs, Fe2As and α-Fe.FeSbO4 has been prepared by heating an appropiate mixture of Fe2O3 and Sb2O3 in O2 atmosphere. Its H2 reduction proceeds similar to that of FeAsO4; as only small amounts of Sb are formed, the ∊-phase of FeSb is here the end product at suitable conditions.

Die Verbindung „Fe2O3 · 2 FeAsO4“ (Bruttoformel Fe4As2O11) wurde dargestellt. Die Reduktion von FeAsO4 verläuft - höchstwahrscheinlich über die röntgenographisch nicht faßbare Zwischenstufe FeAsO3 - im Grenzfall zum FeAs. FeAsO3 ist thermisch instabil, so daß während der Reduktion As2O3, As und Spuren von AsH3 entstehen. Man erhält also auf diesem Wege kein reines FeAs, sondern je nach Reduktionsbedingungen unterschiedliche Mischungen von FeAs, Fe2As und α-Eisen als Reduktionsprodukte. Das in der Literatur beschriebene FeSbO4 wurde durch Glühen eines Fe2O3—Sb2O3-Gemisches im Sauerstoffstrom dargestellt.Die Reduktion von FeSbO4 verläft ähnlich wie die FeAsO4-Reduktion. Die ausgetragene Antimonmenge ist hier jedoch gering, und man kommt unter günstigen Bedingungen zu der in der Literatur beschriebenen ∊-Phase von FeSb.
