Description / Table of Contents:
On Different Modifications of BaTeO3BaTeO3 exists in two modifications. Single crystals of both forms have been prepared by melting BaCO3 with TeO2 and examined by X-ray diffraction. For the already known monoalinic modification, BaTeO3(I), the reduced cell was determined: a = 463.3(4), b = 594.3(5), c = 110.4(5) pm, β = 106.4(1)°, Z = 2, space group P21/m-C2h2. Its structural relation to KClO3 is discussed.BaTeO3(II): orthorhombic, a = 1478.4(2), b = 612.6(1), c = 1 235.0(2) pm, Z = 12, space group Pnma-D2h16, ∂pykn. = 5.59, ∂x = 5.571 g/cm3. Both structures contain isolated pyramidal TeO3 groups.
Notes:
BaTeO3(II): orthorhombisch, a = 1478,4(2), b = 612,6(1), c = 1 235,0(2) pm, Z = 12, Raumgruppe Pnma-D2h16, ∂pykn. = 5,59, ∂x = 5,571 g/cm3. In beiden Strukturen liegen isolierte pyramidale TeO3-Baugruppen vor.
