Notes: In this study, Nb-Cr binary mixtures were prepared by mechanical alloying. Andmechanical alloying process of mixed Nb-Cr(1:2) powders was studied, and the phases of millingpowders analyzed by XRD and SEM. It has been found that the powders form solid solution first, thenamorphous phase appeared gradually and crystallization of amorphous takes place with the differentmilling time. A thermodynamic model of MA of Nb-Cr system was developed based on MiedemaSemi-experimental theory to explain the phase transformations of Nb-Cr system during milling.Using Miedema semi-empirical model the free energies of the ordered Laves-phase NbCr2intermetallics, solid solution and amorphous alloy were calculated. From XRD and SEM analysis ofNb/2Cr powders prepared by mechanical alloying in a planetary ball milling, it was found that thecalculated results were in accordance with the experiments

Notes: Abstract In this paper, the problem of an infinite plane with a circular hole welded by a nearly circular plate with a crack of different material is considered. The problem is transformed into solving a certain boundary value problem of analytic functions and then reduced to solving a singular integral equation along the crack. The formulas and some numerical results of the factors of stress intensity for the cases Mode I and Mode II are obtained at the end of this paper.

Notes: Abstract In this paper, some lemmas on doubly quasi-periodic analytic functions in multiplication are proved. Such functions may not be identical to zero even if their real parts vanish on the boundary. Conditions for in which this case appears is also obtained. A concrete example is given, to show that this case actually exists. Finally, the general solution of the considered Dirichlet problem of doubly quasi-periodic analytic functions with zero real parts on the boundary is obtained, provided the multipliers are not prescribed.

Notes: Abstract Some general formulations of the second fundamental problem in plane elasticity are proposed here when the displacements given on the closed boundary contours of a multiconnected elastic region are relative to certain rigid motions which are different to each other for different boundary contours. In such case, it is proved that, for the unique existence of solution, there must be given in addition to the principal vector and the principal moment of the external forces on each boundary contour. A method of solution is given also together with some illustrative examples.

Description: The interconnection between hard electronics and soft textiles remains a noteworthy challenge in regard to the mass production of textile–electronic integrated products such as sensorized garments. The current solutions for this challenge usually have problems with size, flexibility, cost, or complexity of assembly. In this paper, we present a solution with a stretchable and conductive carbon nanotube (CNT)-based paste for screen printing on a textile substrate to produce interconnectors between electronic instrumentation and a sensorized garment. The prototype connectors were evaluated via electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings using a sensorized textile with integrated textile electrodes. The ECG recordings obtained using the connectors were evaluated for signal quality and heart rate detection performance in comparison to ECG recordings obtained with standard pre-gelled Ag/AgCl electrodes and direct cable connection to the ECG amplifier. The results suggest that the ECG recordings obtained with the CNT paste connector are of equivalent quality to those recorded using a silver paste connector or a direct cable and are suitable for the purpose of heart rate detection.

Description: Preventive healthcare has attracted much attention recently. Improving people’s lifestyles and promoting a healthy diet and wellbeing are important, but the importance of work-related diseases should not be undermined. Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are among the most common work-related health problems. Ergonomists already assess MSD risk factors and suggest changes in workplaces. However, existing methods are mainly based on visual observations, which have a relatively low reliability and cover only part of the workday. These suggestions concern the overall workplace and the organization of work, but rarely includes individuals’ work techniques. In this work, we propose a precise and pervasive ergonomic platform for continuous risk assessment. The system collects data from wearable sensors, which are synchronized and processed by a mobile computing layer, from which exposure statistics and risk assessments may be drawn, and finally, are stored at the server layer for further analyses at both individual and group levels. The platform also enables continuous feedback to the worker to support behavioral changes. The deployed cloud platform in Amazon Web Services instances showed sufficient system flexibility to affordably fulfill requirements of small to medium enterprises, while it is expandable for larger corporations. The system usability scale of 76.6 indicates an acceptable grade of usability.

Description: Due to the information technology advancement, the feasibility for the establishment of mobile medical environments has been strengthened. Using RFID to facilitate the tracing of patients’ mobile position in hospital has attracted more attentions from researchers due to the demand on advanced features. Traditionally, the management of surgical treatment is generally manually operated and there is no consistent operating procedure for patients transferring among wards, surgery waiting rooms, operating rooms, and recovery rooms, resulting in panicky and urgent transferring work among departments and, thus, leading to delays and errors. In this paper, we propose a new framework using radio frequency identification (RFID) technology for a mobilized surgical process monitoring system. Through the active tag, an application management system used before, during, and after the surgical processes has been proposed. The concept of signal level matrix, SLM, was proposed to accurately identify patients and dynamically track patients’ location. By updating patient’s information real-time, the preprocessing time needed for various tasks and incomplete transfers among departments can be reduced, the medical resources can be effectively used, unnecessary medical disputes can be reduced, and more comprehensive health care environment can be provided. The feasibility and effectiveness of our proposed system are demonstrated with a number of experimental results.

Description: As the United States, Japan, Australia and other 9 countries joined trans-pacific partnership (TPP), it has become the highest standard and the largest free trade agreement in the history. But China is excluded, and with the development of the negotiation, contracting states gradually formed a sort of circle around China, which will no doubt have a significant impact on China’s foreign trade development, especially on China’s manufacturing industry. No matter whether China will join TPP or not, it will never take the easy way out. So, exploring how to improve China’s international competitiveness of manufacturing has been an important topic.
