Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
The effect of noise and drift in ebulliometer operation can be eliminated by the use of certain azeotropes. Such azeotropic mixtures are cyclohexane/acetone, carbon tetrachloride/acetone, benzene/methanol, carbon tetrachloride/methanol, and tetrahydrofuran/water. Other azeotropes were found unstable, however. The applicability of the “stable” azeotropes was tested via molecular weight determinations of poly(ethylene glycols).
