Abstract The chemical effects of the β-decay of35S incorporated into doubly labeled molecules of primary and secondary n-hexanethiols have been studied. The final products, viz.14C6H13Cl-1 and14C6H13Cl-2 were isolated by means the preparative GLC and determined by radiometric method. It has been estiblished that in the gas phase about 60% of primary molecular ions were stabilized in form of hexyl chlorides. In presence of water vapor the yield of hexyl chlorides increases to about 90%.
