Notes: The propagation of a linearly polarized relativistic laser pulse in an underdense plasma is studied by fluid-Maxwell and particle-in-cell simulations. A nonlinear interplay between backward and forward stimulated Raman scattering instabilities produces a strong spatial modulation of the light pulse and the down cascade in its frequency spectrum. The Raman cascade saturates by a unique photon condensation at the bottom of the light spectra near the electron plasma frequency, related to strong depletion and possible break-up of the laser beam. In the final stage of the cascade-into-condensate mechanism, the depleted downshifted laser pulse is gradually transformed into a train of ultra-short relativistic light solitons. © 2001 American Institute of Physics.

Notes: Abstract The methods used for control of radiochemical purity of99mTc-MDP are presented. TLC method on silica gel, developed with methanol and acetone (1∶1 v/v), was convenient for determination of99mTcO 4 − with the content of 2.6±1.2%. The reliable results on detection of99mTc hydrolyzate (2.2±1.3%) and for another99mTc-MDP complex (13.2±2.8%) were obtained by application of ITLC (SA), developed with Sn-MDP. By Sephadex G-25 column chromatography (1.5 cm×5 cm) the separation of99mTcO 4 − was not achieved. The range of normal99mTc-MDP biodistribution values in the organs of experimental animals have been determined. The mean value of bone distribution was 8.4±1.13%/g, in muscles 0.071±0.033%/g, while uptake in liver and kidneys was below 5%. Chi-square test and P show that the results on biodistribution of99mTc-MDP in liver, bones and muscles are arranged around their mean values, which is statistically allowed.

Notes: Abstract A procedure for obtaining a stable99mTc(V)-DMSA kit and methods for its radiochemical and biological control are described. The effect of pH on radiopharmaceutical stability of the complex was studied. The kinetic parameters of99mTc(V)-DMSA were determined on rats and compared to the corresponding values for renal99mTC-DMSA. Clinical tests showed that99mTc(V)-DMSA is suitable agent for detecting the primary medullar carcinoma of thyroid, as well as for detection of thyroid metastasis.

Notes: Abstract The comparative pharmacokinetic study of PAHIDA-99mTc p-(biscarboxymethyl)-aminomethylcarbaminohipuric acid, MAG3-99mTc (mercaptoacetyltrigly cine) and DTPA-99mTc (diethylenetriaminepentaacetate) was made by measurement of biodistribution, blood clearance, volume distribution, half-lives of distribution and elimination, and other relevant parameters. The percentage of protein binding was determined too, by the methods of dialysis and precipitation. These results were used to calculated the constants and rates of protein binding. The results of biodistribution show that MAG3-99mTc exibits a higher in the same time interval. The present work also reports results of clinical investigation of PAHIDA-99mTc.

Notes: Abstract The interaction of bilirubin and99mTc-HIDA and99mTc-IODIDA has been studied in rats. The mechanism of this interaction has been examined at the level of binding with human serum albumin (HSA) by the in vitro method. Percentage of binding with HSA, and affinity constants for99mTc-IODIDA were determined with and without bilirubin. Bilirubin was labeled with99mTc and its interaction with HSA was also examined.

Notes: Abstract The partition coefficient (log P) for n-octanol/water system was calculated applying PACO program for various theoretically possible mono and dihalogenated IDA derivatives. Some of the synthesized ligands (SOLCOIODIDA, IODIDA and DIIODIDA) were labeled with the technetium-99m. The biodistribution and influence of bilirubin on their biokinetics were investigated in rats. The correlation between partition coefficients of ligands increase (log P) and better hepatobiliary properties of 99mTc-IDA derivatives was determined. The values of log P increase from 1.16 for SOLCOIODIDA, 3.11 for IODIDA to 3.47 for DIIODIDA. In correlation with these results, biliary excretion decreased for 59% for 99mTc-SOLCOIODIDA and 11% for 99mTc-IODIDA and 99mTc-DIIODIDA under hyperbilirubinemia (3.5 min after injection) and 45%, 11% and 0.38% respectively (15 min after injection). The highest biliary excretion had 99mTc-DIIODIDA (55.4% for 3.5 min). Considering the correlation between hepatobiliary properties and log P, the evaluation of biological properties for various trifluoromethyl mono and dihalogenated IDA derivatives was performed on the basis of the calculated log P in order to synthetize a new radiopharmaceutical for hepatobiliary scintigraphy.

Notes: Abstract Results on aluminium and99mTc-MDP interaction under “in vivo” and “in vitro” conditions are presented. Aluminium, as chemical impurity, which in99mTc-eluate some times appears above the allowed concentration (more than 20 μg/ml) in the course of preparate labeling procedure may interact under in vitro conditions. Such a form of interaction was discovered by radiochromatographic methods. The highest Al3+-ion concentration studied (200 μg/ml) increases the99mTc-hydrolysate content by about ten times compared to the control. However, the same Al3+-ion concentration decreases by about four times the content of99mTc-MDP complex, which is responsible for deposition in bones. According to biodistribution results obtained on wistar rats, significant increase of radioactivity in liver is observed, and at the same time the decrease in bones, in dependence on the aluminium ion dose. With a maximum dose of 200 μg Al3+/kg b.w. the uptake of99mTc-MDP in liver was higher for about 35% and lower in bones for 3.6%/g. With compensan (antacide drug) with which the animals were primarily treated per os, only considerably small changes were observed in99mTc-MDP uptake, if compared to the control group. These findings are very important for clinical application of this preparate.

Notes: Abstract A new diiodine substituted IDA derivative, 2,4-diiodine-6-methyl IDA (DIIODIDA) was synthesized and labeled with99mTc. It was established that99mTc-DIIODIDA had high radiochemical purity. Biodistribution and influence of bilirubin on99mTc-DIIODIDA biokinetics has been studied in rats and compared to the corresponding results for99mTc-SOLCOIODIDA. Related to99mTc-SOLCOIODIDA,99mTc-DIIODIDA has much better biliary exretion (55.18 versus 43.63%). No change of99mTc-DIIODIDA biokinetics, under influence of bilirubin was noticed. Biliary excretion of99mTc-SOLCOIODIDA has been reduced for about 60%. The protein binding of99mTc-DIIODIDA and99mTc-SOLCOIODIDA were also determined, using in vitro method of precipitation. These results showed that99mTc-DIIODIDA hepatobiliary imaging agent is superior to the presently used99mTc-monoiodine IDA derivatives.

Description / Table of Contents: Summary Coulometric determinations of the mentioned acids alone and in mixture, in the presence of sodium perchlorate as conductive salt, were performed in a number of organic solvents applying the bismuth electrode-pair biamperometry and as reference glass/calomel electrode potentiometry. It appeared that also in this case, the bismuth indicating system could be successfully applied.
