Abstract Possibility of relating three distinct physical phenomena—removal of strong CP violations, neutrino masses and fermion mixing—through a globalU (1) symmetry is considered. Both the allowed range of neutrino masses and mixing angles could be tightly constrained in this scheme. A concrete model is proposed where the Fritzsch type of structure for quark mass matrices lead to a determination of neutrino mixing parameters. The resultingv e −v μ masses and mixing could solve the solar neutrino problem via Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein mechanism. Thev μ −v τ oscillations could occur in the model at an observable rate.
