Notes:
Triggered surface switches built on planar lines ranging in width from a few cm up to 40 cm, and having from 1 to 39 current channels, have been measured to have inductances of the order of a few nH. Such low inductances guarantee that this type of switch, which is suitable for use in very-fast-current-rise-time, multi-kA, multi-kV circuits will not, itself, set a lower limit on the current rise time of the circuit. The formation of the channels is in the range of 20–100 ns and the jitter can be as low as 1–2 ns.
