Notes:
A system useful for magnetotransport measurement on highly anisotropic materials is described. One type of cryostat can rotate a sample about two horizontal axes over an angular range of ∼±15° with a resolution of ∼0.02°, while another can rotate it about one axis over a wider range with a resolution of ∼0.1°. These sample holders are rotated about a vertical axis by a computer-controlled stepping motor with a 0.0036°/step resolution in a horizontal magnetic field generated by a 7 T superconducting split-coil magnet. A few examples of measurements recently made by use of this system are given to illustrate the system's performance.
