Abstract Chemiluminescent compositions of 9-cyano-10-methylacridine nitrate and luminol were used to design and improve rapid direct and highly sensitive methods for selective evaluation of the content of iron in corrosive media. The chemiluminescent methods proposed in the present work are capable of detecting nanogram amounts of iron in corrosive media in the presence of much greater amounts of chromium, manganese, nickel, copper, zinc, aluminum, and titanium. To check the developed methods, they were applied to the determination of the corrosion rate in 40Kh steel placed in universal buffer solutions.
