    Notes: The Yuma area has experienced agricultural development since the late 1890s and ground-water levels have risen over 70 feet due to recharge from heavy application of irrigation water, unlined canals and flooding along the Colorado and Gila Rivers. The resulting shallow water levels have seriously impacted residential areas and prime agricultural land.The Arizona Department of Water Resources in conjunction with Yuma County Flood Control District developed a regional three-dimensional ground-water flow model of the Yuma area. The purpose of the model is to assist local agencies in evaluating remedial water management alternatives to mitigate the shallow ground-water level problems.The model domain incorporates over 900 mi2 of Arizona, California, and Mexico and simulates ground-water pumpage, deep percolation from agricultural irrigation, evapotranspiration from phreatophytes and flow in 12 canals, 16 drains, and the Colorado and Gila Rivers. The model contains four layers with over 30,000 model cells ranging in size from 40 acres to 640 acres.Different model scenario simulations were conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of proposed water management alternatives on lowering ground-water levels within the northern portion of Yuma Valley. These scenarios include lining a portion of the East Main canal and pumping two drainage wells, lining the All-American canal, and simulating a decrease in deep percolation from agricultural irrigation on the Yuma Mesa and northern portion of Yuma Valley.

    Description: The Cuprite mining district in southwestern Nevada has become a test site for remote sensing studies with numerous airborne scanners and ground sensor data sets collected over the past fifteen years. Structurally, the Cuprite region can be divided into two areas with slightly different alteration and mineralogy. These zones lie on either side of a postulated low-angle structural discontinuity that strikes nearly parallel to US Route 95. Hydrothermal alternation at Cuprite was classified into three major zones: silicified, opalized, and argillized. These alteration types form a bulls-eye pattern east of the highway and are more linear on the west side of the highway making a striking contrast from the air and the imagery. Cuprite is therefore an ideal location for remote sensing research as it exhibits easily identified hydrothermal zoning, is relatively devoid of vegetation, and contains a distinctive spectrally diagnostic mineral suite including the ammonium feldspar buddingtonite, several types of alunite, different jarosites, illite, kaolinite, smectite, dickite, and opal. This present study brings a new dimension to these previous remote sensing and ground data sets compiled for Cuprite. The development of a higher resolution field spectrometer now provides the capability to combine extensive in-situ mineralogical data with a new geologic field survey and detailed Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometers (AVIRIS) images. The various data collection methods and the refinement of the integrated techniques are discussed.

    Description: The TDI project (TDI) investigates trending technical data standards for applicability to NASA vehicles, space stations, payloads, facilities, and equipment. TDI tested COTS software compatible with a certain suite of related industry standards for capabilities of individual benefits and interoperability. These standards not only esnable Information Technology (IT) efficiencies, but also address efficient structures and standard content for business processes. We used source data from generic industry samples as well as NASA and European Space Agency (ESA) data from space systems.
