Notes: Abstract The General Collective Model (GCM) is revised and applied to the chain of182–196Hg- and96–108Ru-isotopes. Calculated energy spectra, absolute B(E2) values and Quadrupole moments are presented and compared to experiment. For many of these nuclei a coexistence of spherical and triaxial shapes was found. Additionally we investigated the shape transition within the Ru-chain from prolate (96Ru) over spherical (98Ru) to triaxial (A ≧100). The results are compared to microscopic and IBA calculations.

Notes: Abstract The shape of the allowed positron spectrum from the decay of Na22 has been studied under various experimental conditions in an ironfree, double-focusing spectrometer in search of instrumental distortions of the spectrum. The possibility of positrons back-scattering from the material directly behind the source on the optical path of the positrons was studied. The beta spectrum shape was measured with end-plates (located ∼6.5 cm behind the source) of aluminum, lucite and lead. Different spectrometer baffle settings were also used. No differences were observed in the spectrum shapes taken under the different experimental conditions. The experimental shape factor could be fitted with an empirical shape of the form of (1+b/W) with 0.10≲b≲0.3 in agreement with earlier work.

Notes: Abstract The 810.6–863.6 keV γγ-directional correlation has been measured with an NaI(Tl)-Ge(Li) detector system. The NaI window was set on the 810.6+863.6 keV composite peak. From the (810.6 NaI gate) (863.6 Ge spectrum) data at 90 °, 135 °, and 180 °, we deducedA 2=+0.51±0.03 andA 4=+0.09±0.04. These results disagree with the values previously obtained from58Co decay (with Nal-NaI detector systems) but agree with the values from γγ(θ) studies following thermal neutron capture by57Fe.

Notes: Abstract The weak transitions in the decay of125Sb have been investigated through gamma ray measurements with high resolution X-ray and with large volume Ge(Li) detectors. The 172.6, 178.8 and 198.5 keV gamma rays are confirmed, while others previously reported were not. Accurate intensities were obtained for the stronger transitions. The weighted averages of these intensities which cover the range of 116 to 670 keV are useful for calibration of Ge(Li) systems.

Notes: Abstract The conversion electron spectrum from the decay of156Tb to156Gd was measured with an iron, double-focusing spectrometer. TheK conversion coefficient of the 1222.4 keV transition was measured relative to theK conversion coefficient of the 661.6 keV transition in137Cs and found to be 0.00174±0.00013. This result was used to normalize electron and gamma-ray data to obtain theK conversion coefficients of 33 transitions in156Gd. The 1009.6 and 1040.6 keV transitions have largeE0 components.

Notes: Abstract A detailed investigation of the energies and intensities of the γ-rays that depopulate the low spin levels of the β- and γ-vibrational bands of156Gd and the γ-vibrational band of158Gd has been conducted. Both singles and γ-γ coincidence measurements were made on sources of 15-d156Eu and 46-min158Eu by use of large volume, high resolution Ge(Li) detectors. In addition to the γ-band at 1154.09 keV, twoK π=0+ bands were observed in156Gd with band heads at 1049.45 and 1168.11 keV, respectively. The 2+ and 3+ members of the γ-vibrational band in158Gd were observed at 1187.12 and 1265.43 keV, respectively, as well as a newK π=0+ band at 1195.98 keV. A first order perturbational treatment of the branching ratios was applied to both nuclei. In addition, the mixing between the ground state, the β-, and the γ-vibrational bands of156Gd is considered from two approaches, but neither satisfactorily explains all the experimentalB(E2) ratios.

Notes: Abstract γγ-directional correlations have been measured between the ground state band transitions 6→4, 4→2 and 2→0 and the γ-rays depopulating the levels of the gamma vibrational band and the negative parity states of166Er. Thereby angular momenta could be assigned to the latter states andM2/E1 multipole mixtures determined for the depopulating γ-transitions. TheE2/M1 mixing ratios were obtained for a series ofI γ→I g transitions up toI γ=8+. These are used to investigate the angular momentum dependence of theE2/M1 admixtures.

Notes: Abstract The intensities, placements andE2/M1 mixing ratios of transitions in the decay of154Eu have been carefully studied to provide accurate data for microscopic calculations. Coincidence relationships in the decay of154Eu have been studied extensively with a multiparameterγ-γ coincidence system with two large volume Ge(Li) detectors. Spectra in coincidence with twenty energy gates were analyzed. Twenty-nine new coincidence relationships were established and confirmed most, but not all, of several levels previously assigned by energy fits only. From an analysis of coincidence spectra and singles spectra with a 18% efficiency Ge(Li) detector new information on the gamma-ray intensities were obtained. Precise values of theE2/M1 mixing ratios of transitions from the gamma- and beta-vibrational bands to the g.s. band have been determined fromγ-γ directional correlation measurements with a NaI(Tl)-Ge(Li) detector coincidence system. Mixing ratios were obtained for a number of other transitions including those fromK π =0− and 2+ bands from direct and skipped cascade correlations.
