Abstract The yields of Ba138, Sr88, Sr90, Y89, and five isotopes of zirconium produced in the fission of U233 have been measured. The fragment-yield vs. mass-number curves revealed a fine structure. It was found that the Cs136 yield was independent and an estimate is given of the independence of the Rb86 yield. As a result of the present measurements and data obtained earlier, an important part of the yield-mass curve for fission fragments has been plotted. From the curve, there has been determined the boundary for the transition from the emission of one neutron by light fragments to the emission of two neutrons. It is shown that the structure is associated with the moment of the act of fission.
