Description:
Author(s): Ermal Rrapaj, Alessandro Roggero, and Jeremy W. Holt The properties of nuclear matter are relevant for many astrophysical systems and determine the signatures of emitted neutrinos and gravitational waves. This work connects a b - i n i t i o calculations in the low-density regime with phenomenological mean-field approaches commonly used at high density. It will allow for improved equations of state over the whole range of conditions relevant for astrophysical applications. These include the description of neutrino reactions in core-collapse supernovae and binary neutron star mergers and a better characterization of the emitted gravitational waves. [Phys. Rev.
