Description / Table of Contents:
Pb(OCOCH3)4 and phosphoric acid react to give phosphatolead(IV) acids, not binary lead(IV) phosphates; “anhydrous” acid produces H2[Pb(H2PO4)6], acid solutions (water content 〈 40%) H2[Pb(H2PO4)2(HPO4)2]. Primarily Pb(OCOCH3)4 and H3PO4 coordinate before ligand exchange occurs; intermediate products, e. g. H2[Pb(H2PO4)4(OCOCH3)2] can be isolated. H2[Pb(H2PO4)2(HPO4)2] is also easily obtained from solutions which are produced during the electrolysis of phosphoric acid solutions with lead electrodes. The phosphatolead(IV) acids are not very sensitive to hydrolysis at room temperature; with hydroxide solutions salts, e.g. M2[Pb(H2PO4)2(HPO4)2] · 2 H2O (M = K, NH4).are obtained.
Notes:
B. M2[Pb(H2PO4)2(HPO4)2] · 2 H2O (M = K, NH4).
