    Description / Table of Contents: Übersicht Die Lebensdauer von feststoffisolierten Spannungswandlern kann beträchtlich durch innere Teilentladungen (TE) verkürzt werden. Ursache dieser inneren TE sind Gaseinschlüsse im Feststoffisoliersystem eines Wandlers, die sich auf konstruktive und fertigungsbedingte Mängel zurückführen lassen. Infolge des gewählten Isoliersystems-Feststoff-sind diese Wandlertypen für eine hohe Betriebsfeldstärke entworfen. Letztere bedingt wiederum, daß die TE-Aktivität in Gaseinschlüssen sehr hoch ist, was zu stark beschleunigter Materialalterung des festen Isolierstoffs und damit letztendlich zu frühzeitigem Ausfall des Geräts führt. Daher sind TE-Messungen vonnöten, die kombiniert mit Feldberechnungen für den jeweiligen Wandlertyp, zu einem besseren Verständnis der Alterungsvorgänge in diesen Geräten leiten sollen. Der nachfolgende Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit dem elektrischen Feld in einem feststoffisolierten Spannungswandler und den Resultaten von TE-Messungen an solchen. Ebenso wird der Einfluß von verschiedenen Versuchsanordnungen und-methoden auf die Resultate der Messungen untersucht.
    Notes: Contents The lifetime of resin insulated voltage transformers (RIVT) can be considerably shortened due to partial discharge activity taking place inside the insulation close to the active parts of the component. In that region the presence of voids, due to manufacturing processes, and the enhanced electric field stress lead to an intense partial discharge activity which determines accelerated degradation processes and eventually the ultimate failure of the device. Partial discharge measurements together with an estimation of the electric field distribution in RIVT seem to be indispensable in order to fully understand transformer performances. In this paper, a study of the electric field distribution inside the RIVT, together with results of partial discharge tests are presented. The influence of the various test arrangements and methods on the experimental results are investigated.

    Notes: Abstract The sorption behaviour of water molecules in epoxy-based thermosetting networks is discussed and related to the modifications of the polymer properties. The hypothesized sorption modes and the corresponding mechanisms of plasticization are discussed on the basis of experimental liquid-sorption tests, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and electrical analyses. Two modes of moisture sorption are assumed: a sorption leading to an increase in the free volume of the system, and adsorption of the water molecules due to hydrogen bonding to hydrophilic groups present in the network and to the surfaces of “holes” which make up the excess free volume of the glassy polymer. Electrical investigation improved the understanding of the hygrothermal ageing phenomena. Water conditioning of the composites modified the surface and bulk resistivities as a consequence of microstructural damage and plasticization.

    Notes: The effect of filler content and applied electrical field on the electrical resistivity of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) filled with aluminum particles was investigated. The resistivity of such composite suddenly decreases by several orders of magnitude at a critical volume concentration φc. In addition, for filler contents lower than φc, the PMMA/Al composite undergoes a transition from a high to a low resistance material in correspondence of a critical value of the external applied electrical field. This value has been related to thermal breakdown occurring in the regions between conductive particles. Moreover, the permittivity spectrum as a function of frequency is reported for composites of several filler contents, and the Lal and Parshad law was used to correlate the experimental data.
