Plum pox (sharka) virus was identified in two young cv. Italian Prune plum trees. Graft transmission to peach seedlings caused chlorotic vein banding and ‘corkscrew’ twisting of the leaves. Cheno-podium foetidum and Nicotiana clevelandii plants were infected by sap inoculation, and the virus was transmitted from N. ctevelandii to N. clevelandii by Myzuspersicae.
