Notes: Relevant parameters that reflect quality loss during frozen storage in filleted and minced Patagonian hake at two different temperatures were determined. Cooked sensory assessment, oxidative rancidity, dimethylamine, formaldehyde, salt soluble protein, free and expressive drip, refractive index, pH and total volatile bases, were evaluated over a lo-month period. Salt soluble protein decreased as formaldehyde and dimethylamine increased. Sensory evaluations and total volatile bases indicated that minced hake remains acceptable after 6 months at −20°C and 12 months at −30°C and fillets remain acceptable for over 12 months both at −20°C and −30°C.

Description: In order to demonstrate the possibilities for scientific networking and data transfer, a first temporary satellite network link was installed between Czecholovakia and the European space operations center in Darmstadt, during the meeting of the inter-agency consultative group for space science in Prague. Several experiments to show interactive nature of the facility and the capability of the system were carried out, and it was proven that, despite the temporary nature of the installation, the planned demonstrations could be conducted in real time. Demonstrations included electronic mail message, orbit prediction and solar X-ray data. The results of the experiment provided insight into possibilities of data exchange.

Description: Some aspects of the on-board application of expert systems in artificial satellites are discussed. The activities of the study, which include the implementation of two prototypes on a dedicated artificial intelligence machine, are described. The general implications of the experience are then discussed. These concern the interrelationship between the expert system and the architecture of the satellite and the expert system's impact on the mission definition phase of the satellite lifecycle. The main obstacles that need to be overcome before operational use of onboard expert systems can take place are discussed.
