Notes: The possible set of inequivalent Lorentz structures on an open, connected, spin four-manifold M is investigated. Using the Steenrod correspondence between Lorentz metrics and tangent line bundles, the family of all homotopy classes of possible Lorentz structures on M is obtained. This approach allows one to distinguish explicitly between time-orientable and time-nonorientable Lorentzian metrics. Moreover, it is shown that any two inequivalent, time-orientable Lorentzian structures that correspond to generators of the torsionless part of H1(M, Z) can be related to each other by using a Morse function with one nondegenerate critical point of index 1 which describes a surgery of type (1, 3) in some decomposition of M=∪i=1∞ Ui.

Notes: A concrete realization of the Milnor–Lichnerowicz spinor bundle by algebraic spinors is considered in the case when the holonomy group of the Levi-Civita connection is equal to the Crumeyrolle group. Some relationships between the existence of parallel spinor fields on a space-time manifold M and its topological invariants are given.

Notes: Starting with a spinor structure over a space-time, to which a more fundamental character is ascribed than to the vector structure, an affine-metric geometry of the space-time. The U(1) bundle of electromagnetism appears naturally in this approach. A "sublocal'' action of the U(1) on the spinor structure is found. Any field of timelike directions creates a "field'' of magnetic monopoles.

Notes: We define, on the algebraic Dirac spinor space Ψ, some operators D± and T±. By means of them we show how the fundamental operations of Hermitian conjugation, complex conjugation, bar conjugation, and so on may be introduced in the Clifford algebra approach. These definitions depend on the geometrical property of the pure imaginary unit i of the Dirac algebra Ds,t and are the same only for mod 4 dimensions of vector space-times Rs,t. Furthermore, on the set Ψ×Ψ we introduce equivalence relations R± and define bijections χ± between Ψ×Ψ/R± and Ds,t. We investigate some properties of χ± and give the necessary and sufficient conditions for u∈Ds,t to belong to some minimal left ideal of Ds,t. Next we use the decomposition of the Dirac algebra Ds,t onto the Dirac spinor spaces to demonstrate two different ways of an action of any element s∈Spin(x,t). These considerations throw a new light onto the problem of the covariant derivative on the bundle of algebraic spinors over a space-time manifold.

Notes: Dirac spinors for vector space-times Rs,t are considered as real spinors of appropriate extended vector spaces Rs',t'. This extension is determined by the condition Rs',t'(approximately-equal-to)RCs,t. The catalog of reality, chirality conditions allowed for Dirac spinors by the analysis of corresponding Clifford algebras and their left minimal ideals are completed.

Notes: We investigate the equations Pψ=kψ+h with the range of ψ contained in an appropriate Clifford algebra. Next we define, on the bundle ΨM of the minimal left ideals of the Clifford algebra, the unique connection ∇˜ which produces the Christoffel connection ∇ on M. To unify the whole picture we have to introduce an additional degree of freedom α which numerates the set of global fields of mutually annihilating primitive idempotents on M. Now the geometrical "duality' of the spinor fields given by the primary as well as by the composed character of the sections of ΨM implies the existence of some internal gauge interaction Bμ which changes α. The generators of the holonomy group of ∇ that do not belong to the Crumeyrolle algebra are responsible for this internal interaction.

Notes: Abstract The spinor structure on space-time manifold is investigated in the frame of Crumeyrolle's approach. Some of his theorems are simplified. The equivalence of this approach to the Milnor and Lichnerowicz one is shown using topological properties of the group space of ℒ0. The equivalence of any two spinor structures on simply connected space-time is established.

Notes: Abstract We show that the presence of nontrivial gauge interactions can correspond to passing from some integrable to nonintegrable distributions transverse to the fibers of an appropriate principalG-bundle overM. In this way we obtain a whole family of new Lagrangians, one for each nontrivial element of Hom(π 1 M, Q). For the trivial mapγ ε Hom(π 1 M, Q) we obtain the known Yang-Mills equations. In this way, for example, the “sectors” for electromagnetic interactions can correspond to the family of inequivalent spinor structures overM.
