Cyclic tetrameric carbonic acid esters from 2,2-(4,4′-dihydroxydiphenyl)-propane, 1,1-(4,4′-dihydroxypiphenyl)-cyclohexane, 2,2-(4,4-hydroxy-3,3-dimethyldipheny)-propane, 2,2-(4,4-dihydroxy-3,3,3,5,5-tetrachlorodiphenyl)propane, and 4,4′-dihydroxydiphenyl-sulphide were obtained by utilization of the dilution principle. Polymerisation of these compounds yields linear polycarbonates with extremely high molecular weights.

Aus 2,2-(4,4′-Dihydroxydiphenyl)-propan, 1,1-(4,4′-Dihydroxydiphenyl)-cyclohexan, 2,2-(4,4′-Dihydroxy-3,3′-dimethyl-diphenyl)-propan, 2,2-(4,4′-Dihydroxy-3,3′,5,5′-tetrachlordiphenyl)-propan und 4,4′-Dihydroxydiphenylsulfid werden nach dem Verdünnungsprinzip cyclische tetramere Carbonate hergestellt. Diese Verbindungen sind zu extrem hochmolekularen linearen Polycarbonaten polymerisierbar.
