Notes: Abstract Mesoporous activated carbons and silica gel (Kieselgel 100, Merck) were modified as follows: (i) treatment with vinyltrimethoxysilane; or (ii)chlorination with CCl4 followed by the reaction with a Grignard reagent. Modification of silica gel was proved by methods FTIR, NMR-13C and element analysis on carbon. The chemical modification of coals by alkans and olefins was supported by comparison of results of thermogravimetry for modified coals and modified silica gels. Polymerization of vinyl groups on carbon surface is shown by methods thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry.

Notes: Abstract The thermal stability of sample Mo(PO3)3 that is the initial material for novel catalysts for carbonmonoxide oxidation has been studied. It has been concluded that molybdenum(III) methaphosphate is stable up to 435°C. Processes of partial oxidation and layering of specimens are determined. Novel material based on partial oxidized Mo(PO3)3 gives significant rise of the carbon oxidation rate. The molybdenum(III) metaphosphate is of a definite interest in view of its application in practice as initial material for new catalysts row formation with different content of Mo(PO3)3 and MoOPO4 layers.

Description / Table of Contents: Abstract
Notes: Abstract XPS and chemisorption studies of the surface composition of a Pd−Ag alloy (5% Pd) before and after its application in CO oxidation have been performed. It is shown that in a freshly prepared sample the bulk and surface layer compositions are the same. High-temperature treatment of the catalyst in the reaction medium leads to a thermodynamic equilibrium between surface and bulk.

Notes: Abstract X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and differential dissolution were used for investigation of the phase transformation peculiarities of biphasic manganese-alumina catalysts during their thermal treatment. An effect of interaction between aluminium and manganese oxides depending on the sample preparation procedure was found.

Description / Table of Contents: Abstract
Notes: Abstract Catalytic properties of molybdenum-alumina catalysts for propylene oxidation are shown to be determined by water-soluble molybdenum compounds, being apparently aluminomolybdenum heteropoly acids bonded to the catalyst surface.

Description / Table of Contents: Abstract
Notes: Abstract The mechanism of catalytic hydrogen oxidation on titanium dioxide (rutile, anatase) at widely varying concentrations of hydrogen and oxygen has been studied by a variety of methods. The process was found to proceed heterogeneously on both TiO2 modifications. On rutile a stepwise mechanism is operative. On anatase the reaction occurs mostly via an associative route.

Notes: Abstract The joint oxidation of hydrogen and carbon monoxide in excess oxygen on palladium was investigated in a reactor for separate calorimetry and a gradientless microreactor at atmospheric pressure. An initiating influence of hydrogen Μm the oxidation of carbon monoxide, as well as inhibitory effect of carbon monoxide on the heterogeneous-homogeneous oxidation of hydrogen, was detected. The conditions of transition of the reactions into the volume according to a heterogeneous-homogeneous mechanism were determined. It is suggested that the joint oxidation of CO and H2 occurs with the participation of the same active intermediate products formed from hydrogen and oxygen.
