Abstract The laws governing the axial deformation of aluminum alloy D16, steel St. 3, and commercially pure copper under plastic torsion are investigated. It is demonstrated that strain accumulation in the direction of elongation occurs in these metals, irrespective of the loading regime. It is established that their behavior depends on the temperature and strain amplitude, as well as on the number of torsion cycles.
