Description / Table of Contents:
In carrying on previous research on the preparation of soluble polyamides which are resistant to high temperatures, new aromatic diamines with 1-methyl-quinazoline-dione, 4-methyl-benzothiadiazinone-1.1-dioxid, 1-methyl-quinazolone, benzoxazine-dione, imidazolidone, and phenoxathin ring systems were produced and reacted with aromatic dicarboxylic acid dichlorides, e.g. iso- or terephthalic acid dichloride, in polar solvents, e.g. N.N-dimethylacetamide or N-methylpyrrolidone, to yield high molecular weight polyamides.Fibers and films, some of which being distinguished by good strength properties and good resistance to high temperatures, can be prepared from these solutions. Besides, the new polyamides can be processed from the solutions to yield pliable films showing good stability to high temperatures.
Notes:
