    Description: In this paper, we present a study on two and a half dimensional (2.5D) perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) media consisting of dual hard magnetic recording layers (RL) with 1st or top RL1 used for conventional data storage and 2nd or bottom RL2 used for dedicated servo with lower linear densities or DC servo patterns with focus on the writability issue of the bottom servo layer (RL2). We demonstrate experimentally the feasibility to magnetically erase, write, and re-write RL2 by laser assist on a home built heat-assisted-magnetic-recording writing test system. Experimental data (by magnetic force microscopy measurements) show that the signal amplitudes of the pre-recorded magnetic patterns for both RL1 and RL2 decrease at almost the same rate with thermal erasure using scanning laser power (Pw) from 13 mW to 23 mW, clearly indicating equally effective laser heating and close temperature rise for RL1 and RL2 for far field laser heating with laser pulse duration in sub- μ s and μ s range. This is further verified by theoretical simulations of the thermal distribution and the temperature rise depth profile in dual layer media by laser heating. Simulations indicate very little temperature difference of less than 6 K (∼1% of maximum temperature rise) between RL1 and RL2 because the main mechanism of temperature rises in RL1 and RL2 is due to the effective thermal conduction from the top layers to lower layers. These experimental and theoretical study results could provide useful understanding and insights into servo writing methods of 2.5D PMR media.

    Description: A major goal of regenerative medicine is to instruct formation of multipotent, tissue-specific stem cells from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) for cell replacement therapies. Generation of haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) from iPSCs or embryonic stem cells (ESCs) is not currently possible, however, necessitating a better understanding of how HSCs normally arise during embryonic development. We previously showed that haematopoiesis occurs through four distinct waves during zebrafish development, with HSCs arising in the final wave in close association with the dorsal aorta. Recent reports have suggested that murine HSCs derive from haemogenic endothelial cells (ECs) lining the aortic floor. Additional in vitro studies have similarly indicated that the haematopoietic progeny of ESCs arise through intermediates with endothelial potential. Here we have used the unique strengths of the zebrafish embryo to image directly the generation of HSCs from the ventral wall of the dorsal aorta. Using combinations of fluorescent reporter transgenes, confocal time-lapse microscopy and flow cytometry, we have identified and isolated the stepwise intermediates as aortic haemogenic endothelium transitions to nascent HSCs.     Description: Handling slum areas up to 0% becomes a major concern for the Government of the Republic of Indonesia which has been contained in the National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN) of 2015-2019. Kingking sub district is an area in the coastal district of Tuban Regency which still has slum settlements until now. This research was conducted to formulate strategies to improve the quality of slum settlements in Kingking sub district through SWOT analysis. Based on the final result of this research, it can be concluded that the strategy to be taken is by using the strength to overcome the existing threats, by focusing on increasing the synergy between government, community, and private role in order to handling the slum.
