    Notes: A non-compatible rectangular element with 12 degrees-of-freedom (DF) has been developed by Wilson et at.5 for analyzing 2-dimensional problems. The superior convergence properties of this element as compared with the 8 DF element for linear elasticity problems with important bending have been demonstrated in References 2, 5. The purpose of this study is to assess the compartive efficiency of these two rectangular elements for an estimation of collapse loads in plasticity problems. For convenience, the 12 DF and 8 DF element will be represented by Q6 and Q4 respectively.
