Conclusions 1. A stress influence, causing a change in the emotional and somatic status of the animals, increases the level of GABA and slows down its enzymatic inactivation in structures of the forebrain. 2. The intensification of processes of GABAergic transmission arising under the influence of GABA-positive preparations is accompanied by a stress-protective effect, manifested in normalization of the emotional and/or somatic status. GABA-negative substances, inhibiting the GABAergic transmission, reduce the resistance of the animals to stress.
