Notes: Series expansions are used to treat the randomly diluted spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet at zero temperature. A series is obtained at zero temperature in powers of the concentration for many correlation functions and for the correlation length from which static, dynamic, and crossover exponents are estimated. The correlation length exponent is found to be 0.77±0.10 in two dimensions. The critical concentration for the appearance of long-range order is indistinguishable from the percolation threshold.

Notes: Abstract It has recently been suggested that there may be an infinite number of independent exponents hidden in the tails of the probability distribution of average percolation cluster numbers. A simple approximation of non-Gaussian effects was used to deduce this result and we show that this approximation is questionable. Extensive simulations of the cluster distribution have been made and an interesting dependence of the cumulants on concentration and range of summation has been observed.

Notes: Abstract Recent experiments by Maynard et al on fourth sound in a Grafoil-filled4He cell show a periodic dependence of the resonant frequency on the average number of solid layers. We interpret their sharp minima as resulting from the inherent smoothness of complete layers, which inhibits the propagation of waves of melting and freezing, and reduces their damping and their coupling to fourth sound. Using a lattice-gas model, we study the roughness of incomplete surface layers, and suggest how this can lead to the observed broad maxima. We predict that the maxima of damping and of resonant frequency coincide.

Notes: Abstract Series for the three dimensional bond percolation probability are reexamined in the light of a recent evaluation of the percolation thresholdp c . We find $$\beta = 0.435 \pm 0.035$$ which implies $$\eta = - 0.01 \pm 0.09$$ We determine Δ1 = 1.05 ± 0.15 and also observe a second correction exponent near Δ2 ~ 1.7.

Notes: Abstract We discuss recent work on the development and analysis of low-concentration series. For many models, the recent breakthrough in the extremely efficient no- free-end method of series generation facilitates the derivation of 15th-order series for multiple moments in general dimension. The 15th-order series have been obtained for lattice animals, percolation, and the Edwards-Anderson Ising spin glass. In the latter cases multiple moments have been found. From complete graph tables through to 13th order, general dimension 13th-order series have been derived for the resistive susceptibility, the moments of the logarithms of the distribution of currents in resistor networks, and the average transmission coefficient in the quantum percolation problem, 11th-order series have been found for several other systems, including the crossover from animals to percolation, the full resistance distribution, nonlinear resistive susceptibility and current distribution in dilute resistor networks, diffusion on percolation clusters, the dilute Ising model, dilute antiferromagnet in a field, and random field Ising model and self-avoiding walks on percolation clusters. Series for the dilute spin-1/2 quantum Heisenberg ferromagnet are in the process of development. Analysis of these series gives estimates for critical thresholds, amplitude ratios, and critical exponents for all dimensions. Where comparisons are possible, our series results are in good agreement with bothε-expansion results near the upper critical dimension and with exact results (when available) in low dimensions, and are competitive with other numerical approaches in intermediate realistic dimensions.

Notes: Abstract The consequences of Schonmann's new proof that the critical threshold is unity for certain bootstrap percolation models are explored. It is shown that this proof provides an upper bound for the finite-size scaling in these systems. Comparison with data for one case demonstrates that this scaling appears to give the correct asymptotics. We show that the threshold for a finite system of sizeL scales asO[ln(lnL)] for the isotropic model in three dimensions where sites that fail to have at least four neighbors are culled.

Notes: Abstract Ising models in high dimensions are used to compare high-temperature series expansions with Monte Carlo simulations. Simulations of the magnetization on four-, six-, and seven-dimensional hypercubic lattices give consistent values of the critical temperature from both equilibrium and nonequilibrium data ford=6 and 7. We tabulate 15 terms of series expansions for the susceptibility for generald and giveJ/k B T c =0.092295 (3) and 0.077706 (2) ford=6 and 7. In contrast to five dimensions, where earlier series found nonanalytic scaling corrections, for d=6 and 7 the leading scaling correction may be analytic inT-T c . In most cases these expansions gave more accurate results than these simulations.
