Notes: Abstract Thermal methods were used to determine the thermal stability of organic groups introduced into the surface of silica precipitated following its reactions with dimethyl-dichlorosilane (DDS), methyltrichlorosilane (MTS) and methyltriethoxysilane (MTES). It was found that modification with MTS or DDS leads to a permanent hydrophobic film on the silica surface.

Notes: Abstract The effect of the temperature of calcining hydrated aluminium oxides on their sorption properties was investigated. It was found that the sorption properties and the porous structure of aluminium oxides depend on the type of material calcined and on the conditions under which this process occurs.

Notes: Abstract A study was made of the effect of an atmosphere of H2+CO (a 3∶1 molar mixture) on the mechanism and the kinetics of desulfuration of basic aluminium-ammonium sulfate under variable pressures of hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The temperature region of the process, the nature of almost all the solid intermediates, and the equations and kinetic parameters relating to the rate of desulfurization of the compound for α〈0.6 were determined. Despite the complexity of the process, the results permitted determination of the temperature and the composition of the gas phase necessary for the process of desulfuration to occur and for aluminium oxides with the required properties to be obtained.

Notes: Abstract The studies were devoted to determination of the effect of gas atmosphere and its pressure on the second step of decomposition of hydrated titanium dioxide (HTD) promoted by sulfate groups. It has been found that thermal decomposition of HTD at temperatures above 300°C consists of a number of processes such as dehydroxylation, desulfuration, recrystallization and sintering of solid grains, photochemical processes (if the decomposition proceeds in the presence of light) and adsorption of gas phase components (in the presence of air or SO2). Kinetic parameters characterizing this step of decomposition have been determined for processes carried out in vacuum and in argon or air atmospheres (at a pressure of 13.33hPa). The kinetic curves of decomposition carried out in the presence of gases capable of being adsorbed on the surface of partly dehydrated HTD are featured by local extrema due to simultaneous processes of decomposition and adsorption of gas components.
