A double mirror harmonic suppressor has been constructed for use in the experimental hutch on hard-x-ray beamlines. The apparatus consists of two flat, gold-coated float glass mirrors mounted in a face-to-face "periscope'' arrangement. This device reduces the second harmonic to 0.5% of the total flux (much better than monochromator detuning) while retaining ∼50% of the flux at the fundamental. © 1995 American Institute of Physics.
