Notizen: Micro electrical discharge machining (EDM), enhanced with ultrasonic vibration, isexplored and assessed as a method for developing microelectrode array, for microelectrode arrayfabricated by LIGA has shortcomings such as complex technology and high price. Based on themechanism of micro-EDM, micro-hole array discharges to fabricate microelectrode array by reversecopying. In the process of reverse copying, the thicker rod electrode can not rotate, resulting inelectric arc and short-circuit occurring easily, so it is necessary to add ultrasonic vibration on theplane plate electrode, in order to exclude debris as soon as possible and stabilize machining process. In the process of machining, four parameters, such as working voltage, working capacity, ultrasonicamplitude and holes spacing, are important to machining efficiency, each parameter has four typicalvalues. In order to reduce experiment times, a scheme of orthogonal experiment was designed withdifferent parameters combination. With result of experiments, the ratio of mean square deviation toerror mean square deviation of each parameter was calculated and significance of each parameterwas obtained, and the best parameters combination was asserted through theoretical calculation. Also, experimental study of using microelectrode array to machine micro-hole array by Micro-EDM was made and influence curve of each parameter was drawn. Finally, 5×5 arrays ofmicroelectrode were obtained, the diameter of single electrode is less than about 30.m and heightto-width aspect ratios is more than 8, moreover, these microelectrode arrays have good coaxialityand surface quality

Notizen: There are many influence factors of electrochemical micromachining (EMM)development. So the characteristics of EMM technology were analyzed firstly. It was an effectivemethod that the nanosecond pulses voltage was used in EMM, and the nanosecond pulses voltagewas prepared to solve the problems of machining area, using small gap, and machining micro 3Dstructure. Its minimum pulse duration is 5ns, and its voltage, current, and duty ratio can be changedfreely. Moreover, many experiments of EMM were carried into execution. After the phenomenonand results of the experiments were analyzed, the reformative project of experiment was putforward. The feasibility of the project and technique route was testified correctly by the nanosecondpulses voltage on the multifunction machine tool which was manufactured independently. Afterstudying on the influences of EMM technology, the experiences of EMM process will be enrichedand make EMM have a further development

Notizen: The residual stress accumulation of thermal barrier coatings (TBC) during thermal cycling hasbeen simulated by thermal elastic-plastic finite element method. Stability process of thermal barriercoatings during thermal cycling is studied by Melan's static shakedown theorem considering thermalgradients and thermal expansion misfit. The influences of the interfacial morphology of top coat / bondcoat (TC/BC) on residual stress and stability process are analyzed. Thus, the residual stress and stabilityprocess are affected remarkably by interfacial topography between TC and BC. Accidented interfacecause the sudden change of the interfacial residual stress which is harmful to interface bonding intensityand stabilization. It is useful information for studying of the life and final spallation of TBC system

Notizen: In order to operate in narrow space, a novel miniaturized EDM (Electro DischargeMachining) mechanism has been developed. A prototype of miniaturized EDM device based onultrasonic motor (UM) has been developed, which has its advantage of compact size (70×40×50 mm).The differential driving electrode has been presented, and coaxial forced vibration of electrode isbenefit for the evacuation of debris, so it helps to achieve stable and efficient machining. Drivingprinciple of ultrasonic motor is analyzed, and simulation using Finite Element Method (FEM) isaccomplished. The auto-frequency tracking has been carried out, in order that the motor work onresonant or quasi-resonant frequency. Finally, EDM experiment has been finished, and holes withfigures of circleΦ85μm and Y-typed have been machined

Notizen: Experiments of combining micro EDM with USM are carried out to enhance themachining ability and flexibility of the micro EDM, improve the machining state, and increase theproductivity and aspect ratio of the micro holes. Basing on RC pulse power supply and workpiecevibration, the micro holes are drilled. The results of comparing experiments indicate that in theprocesses of both micro EDM without USM and micro EDM with USM, the machining velocityand the wear of the electrode increase with the increase of open voltage and loop capacitance. Theexperiment results of amplitude influencing on the machining process indicate that with the increaseof ultrasonic amplitude, the machining velocity heightens and the aspect ratio of the micro holesaugments; at the same time, however, the wear of the electrode and the extensive magnitude of theholes increase. Micro holes with some cross-section and accurate profile are drilled steadily

Notizen: Micro electrical discharge machining (EDM) with block electro discharge grinding(BEDG), is explored and assessed as a method for developing micro electrode, for wire electrodischarge grinding (WEDG) has shortcoming of low working efficiency, especially in the case ofmicro machining. For fabricating micro electrode by BEDG, mechanics of initial clamping errorsare analyzed, the technology of electrode movement is proposed to compensate the clamping errorsand control the finish size of micro electrodes. On the basis of a great deal of experiments, the effectof working voltage on machining efficiency has been found out and been analyzed theoretically, threshold value of working voltage is determined to be about 30V.As shown by result with thetechnology, at a high machining speed, the minimum diameter of micro electrodes reaches 3*m, itsslenderness ratio is more than 5

Notizen: The performance and stability of output of electrical discharge machining (EDM) aredetermined by the output of EDM pulse power supply. In order to resolve disadvantages ofconventional pulse power supply, such as undesirable efficiency and low power factor, the prototypedesign of energy-saving EDM pulse power supply is developed. It is composed of such three stages asa single-phase active power factor correction (PFC) pre-regulator, a full-bridge phase shift zerovoltage switching (FB-PS-ZVS) converter based on complex control paralleled of machining currentclosed-loop and voltage closed-loop at period of spark gap insulation, and a pulse generator based onmachining sequence control. The PFC pre-regulator contributes to a great increase to about 0.95 in itspower factor. The efficiency of the new system is considerably increased to about 70% due to designof ZVS. The pulse generator contributes to the pulse machining current without a tail. Experimentresults demonstrates that the prototype is capable of low electrode wear, high speed, stable machining

Notizen: Two kinds of specimen made of a kind of Ta-W alloy material with high melting pointabout 3000°C were processed by a traditional EDM (TEDM) and a powder mixed EDM (PMEDM)separately, and its surface characteristics were tested. After processing, their surfaces had theroughness of Ra 0.542μm and Ra 0.174μm, respectively. Moreover, their surface wear-resistancewas studied on a CJS111A friction and wear tester. The micro-appearances on the wear surfaceswere observed and analyzed by using a SEM. The test results indicated that the better wear-resistingability the specimen, the higher wear rate displayed during the test the grinding balls. The wearrates of grinding balls corresponding to the two processed surfaces are 2.4×10-5 mm3/m for theTEDM and 1.4×10-4 mm3/m for the PMEDM, and the latter is 5.8 times of the former. The resultsshow that the PMEDM is better at improving the wear-resistance, roughness and hardness than theTEDM, which means that the technique of PMEDM has a great potential in processing the specialmaterial

Notizen: This paper describes a new surface modification method by Electrical DischargeMachining (EDM) to create a hard ceramic layer on the workpiece. When a kind of metallic material that makes hard carbide is used as an electrode of EDM, hard ceramic layer can be deposited in a certain condition in the process of EDM. In this paper, characteristics of the layer and the application of this method to cutting tools are discussed. First, the principle of this surface modification method is shown. Secondly, the characteristics of the layer are studied in detail. Through the discuss of wear characteristics of the electrode and formation characteristics of thelayer, it can be found that there are some distinct differences between the traditional EDM technology and this new EDM surface modification method. Thirdly, the micro-hardness test of the layer at the different distance from the base metal is carried out. It shows that there is a hard area also under the surface of base metal. At last, as an application of EDM surface modification method, cutting test of cutting tools is done, and it confirms that the life of the cutting tool by EDM surface modification is much longer than that of without layer
