Notes:
A numerical calculation of specific wear rate has been attempted for two kinds of sliding wear (abrasive and adhesive) using a phenomenological equation derived from the concepts of crack propagation, delamination physics, and bond rupture. An approximate estimation of several parameters in the wear equation has been performed, and there appears to be and agreement between the theoretical and experimental wear rate within the order of magnitude.
