Conclusions 1. The addition of boron to 0Kh23N18 steel reduces the zone of acicular crystals in the ingot. The size of the crystals is also reduced. 2. Boron substantially increases the ductility of both the cast and forged metal. 3. Boron doubles the long-term strength of the steel at 650°C and increases it 50% at 800°C. 4. Boron has no effect on the concentration of gases in 0Kh23N18 steel.
