Notes:
By using heat shock, we have induced triploidy in the offspring of gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata). We have verified that the effectiveness of the treatment in this marine species depends not only on the three factors habitually considered (incubation time, treatment intensity and treatment time), but also on the salinity of the treatment water. The most effective treatment to provoke triploidy in this species is to apply a heat shock of 34 °C for 10 min without an incubation period and with water salinity at 30:1000.
