Article Cilia are hair-like protuberances on the cellular surface that have been implicated in sensing and signal transduction. Here Gerdes et al . show cilia are involved in insulin signalling and secretion in pancreatic β-cells of rodents, and suggest that ciliary dysfunction could contribute to type 2 diabetes.
