Trinitrophenyl C60 derivative was synthesized by allowing C60 to react with trinitrochlorobenzene and sodium azide. This fullerene derivative would first provide a brillant prospect in the energetic materials. The product structure was identified by FD-MS, UV-VIS, IR and 13C-NMR.
